Comparison of rack-mounted lead-acid batteries and rack-mounted lithium batteries
Rackmount lithium batteries are not the only type of rackmount batteries, there are other battery types such as rackmount lead-acid batteries, etc. There are clear differences between other battery types, some of which are highlighted below.
● Safety
In terms of safety, it has been repeatedly proven that rack-mounted lithium batteries are a more stable and environmentally friendly choice. At the same time, rack-mounted lead-acid batteries may accidentally leak toxic gases, which is harmful to users and the environment.
● Performance.
There is a clear difference in the performance of rack-mount lithium batteries, which are proven to have higher energy density and more stable current supply. On the other hand, while a rack-mount lead-acid battery may also have a relatively high energy density, its current supply is not constant and will decrease as the battery drains.
● Stability.
When placing any rackmount battery in a rackmount server, considerations must be made regarding the stability of the battery, and rackmount lithium batteries are a more stable option. Rack mount lead-acid batteries are much less stable due to their liquid acid content.
● Charge and discharge cycle
The charge and discharge cycle of the rack-mounted lithium battery is more ideal, the charge can reach 100%, and the discharge can reach 0%, which has no great impact on the battery. Rackmount lead-acid batteries, on the other hand, can only be charged to 80% and discharged to 20% to avoid adverse effects on the battery itself. The cycle life of lithium batteries can be as high as 4000 times, which is much higher than that of lead-acid batteries.
