What is a rack battery and how does it work?
Rackmount batteries are specially designed batteries just to fit in a rackmount server. These batteries are manufactured in a special configuration that makes them flatter than most common battery types, usually only 2 inches tall. The small, flat shape of these batteries allows them to fit in small designated racks, where space varies depending on the size of the rack-mounted battery itself.
Batteries such as rack mount lithium batteries are a common example of these types of batteries, and they mostly appear as UPS devices to protect electronics from power fluctuations and blackouts. Batteries like UPS rack-mount lithium batteries are designed to be placed in a cabinet that can hold more than one battery pack. These racks have several spaces or levels, each of which can accommodate a rack-mounted battery, all of which can be connected to their various applicable sources. These batteries are commonly found in data centers and computer rooms, where multiple battery packs are used to supplement multiple computer systems.
